Situation

Walmart executives desired to scale sustainability initiatives throughout all of its global divisions. How might Blu Skye restructure the global company to integrate sustainability into corporate culture as a core value?

Our Role

Assess

Identified structural limitations and advantages of Walmart as the world’s largest company by employment and revenue. 

Align

Developed a set of eight cross-functional, multi-hierarchical, ad-hoc teams called Sustainable Value Networks (SVNs), which aligned sustainability imperatives with key leaders’ passions. 

Execute

Designed and facilitated Walmart’s Milestone Meetings, which provided ongoing structure to SVN actors, urgency for initiative completion, and executive committee engagement.

Result

Sustained network expansion, with the number of SVNs growing from eight to fourteen within three years.
